Criminal Law Support

Criminal Law Support and Case Preparation

Advisory and documentation support within non-reserved boundaries

Introduction

Facing a criminal matter is one of the most stressful experiences anyone can go through. While Crown Advisors is not a criminal law firm and does not provide regulated criminal defence services, we offer structured advisory and documentation support to individuals navigating the criminal process, working within non-reserved legal activity boundaries.

What We Can Help With

  • Pre-charge advisory support — practical guidance on the investigation process, rights during police interviews, and what to expect at each stage
  • Case file organisation and documentation support — helping clients understand and organise the evidence and papers in their matter
  • Preparation support for individuals who will be representing themselves or working alongside a duty solicitor or legal aid lawyer
  • Correspondence drafting to relevant authorities, including formal representations and written submissions in an advisory capacity
  • Support with voluntary interview preparation — understanding the process, preparing a written account, and organising relevant documentation
  • Victim and witness support — helping individuals who are victims or witnesses in criminal proceedings understand the process and prepare their account
  • Post-conviction guidance on the appeals and review process — preparation support for applications to the Criminal Cases Review Commission
  • Criminal record disclosure guidance — practical advisory on DBS checks, spent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and disclosure obligations

Important Scope Information

Crown Advisors does not provide criminal defence advocacy, conduct criminal litigation, or appear in criminal courts as a representative. Criminal proceedings before the Magistrates Court and Crown Court require regulated legal representation. Where a client requires criminal defence solicitor or barrister services, Crown Advisors will advise accordingly and can assist with the transition, including helping to organise case documentation for the instructed legal team.

All criminal law support services are provided in an advisory and preparatory capacity within non-reserved legal activity boundaries.

Crown Advisors is not a law firm and is not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority or any other legal services regulator. We do not provide reserved legal activities as defined by the Legal Services Act 2007. These include the conduct of litigation, the exercise of rights of audience in courts where not permitted, and the provision of legal advice on the merits of a legal claim. Our services are advisory, documentary, and support-based in nature. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies to all services we provide. We hold professional indemnity insurance and operate a named complaints procedure. If you are dissatisfied with our service, please refer to our Complaints page.
